Pager Forwarding

Rationale:  Experience by telecommunications, as well as review of certain events by Risk Management, has indicated that not properly cancelling previous pager forwarding instructions can result in a failure to receive pages. Bottom line:

Be sure to cancel pager forwarding before you forward paging to the next number

Instructions on how to cancel a forward a UCSD Healthcare Pager:

First: cancel the forwarding feature

1

Dial your pager number; after the tone dial “9” *, then dial “0”;

2

Enter your personal Access Code (i.e. 1234)**; then dial “1 6”;

3

At the prompt dial “6” to access pager forwarding;

4

At the prompt enter “3”; any previous pager forwarding is now cancelled.

Note: unfortunately, the system is such that you have to make two separate calls: first call to cancel previous paging and second to initiate the next number to receive pages.  As previously stated, this process is very important because repeated pager forwarding without cancelation will cause problems that can lead to pages not being received.

Second: forward paging to the number to receive pages

1

Dial your pager number; after the tone dial “9” *, then dial “0”;

2

Enter your personal Access Code (i.e. 1234)**; then dial “16”;

3

At the prompt dial “6” to access pager forwarding;

4

Enter the 7 digit pager number that will now receive pages

5

Press the “#” key

6

Enter the 7 digit pager number again and press # to confirm.
